LETTER: The problem is the drivers, not the roads

The Okotoks roads are fine, let’s work on improving the attitude and ability of the drivers to adjust to the road conditions.

Dear Editor,

Why are people complaining about the roads? The roads sit there quietly and are harmless. The problem is the people who don’t know how to use them sensibly.

All it takes is driving in a manner where you are in full control of your vehicle. If this means driving a little slower than usual, then learn to do that. Problem solved.

My experience is that vast majority of drivers ignore the rules of the road. I regularly see drivers not stopping at a red light when turning right, turning left when the turn light has gone off and entering an intersection on a yellow light. These are just a few examples.

The main problem is those who ignore the posted speed limit, or any road sign. I can be driving at the speed limit, in town or on the highway, and vehicles are flashing past me.

So far, touch wood, no problems. The Okotoks roads are fine, let’s work on improving the attitude and ability of the drivers to adjust to the road conditions.
