Letter: Separation not the solution to Albertans’ frustrations

letters_to_the_editor_330x220

Dear Editor,

As a born and raised Albertan, I am just as frustrated as most people are with the current relationship with Ottawa.

That being said, the Alberta Separatist movement and their “Grass is greener on the other side” claims are an absolute embarrassment.

Ignoring for a moment how misguided their economic claims are, I am shocked that 153 years of hard work, sacrifice, and growth towards becoming a better people and a glowing example of democracy and tolerance can be pushed to the side because of a provincial temper tantrum.

There are problems that need to be addressed and fixed without a doubt, but crying and running away is not the solution. If we can get through two World Wars and a Great Depression with dignity and respect, we can figure out a way to get through this without tearing the country apart.
