Letter: Okotoks has become a speedway

Dear Editor, Yes it’s amazing, speeding is rampant within Okotoks. We live in Westridge and it’s unbelievable that speeds of 60-100+km are common occurrence.

Dear Editor,

Yes it’s amazing, speeding is rampant within Okotoks.

We live in Westridge and it’s unbelievable that speeds of 60-100+km are common occurrence.

As I prepare this note to the sound of a vehicle is doing a burn out on Westridge Drive.

We took our concerns six years ago to Okotoks council, which has proven to be a total waste of our time. Yes. How fast can one go while hitting the rev limiter between shifts. On a average each day 100 tickets could be issued for speeding, crap can mufflers, failure to stop and running red lights.  Each day we’re intimidated, harassed by these individuals.

We all pay healthy taxes and everyone deserves a better quality of life.

Our neighbours have given up, lost equity just to get out of this hell hole.

As a result more and more homes have become rental property. Each weekend we see between 8-13 enforcement vehicles each parked in their compound.

It’s time for change, we need a new mayor, municipal enforcement manager “who cares” about the quality of life within Okotoks!

Now before you get on your iron horse, we’re car people.

Been involved with hot rods, race cars for 50 plus years and we ride a Harley.

Show a little respect for your neighbours.

Okotoks deserves “police presence” and a monthly report from enforcement on traffic violations.

Our neighbours agree a demonstration is needed.

Trevor Landage,

Okotoks
