LETTER: E-scooters and bikes cause safety concerns

Those using e-scooters and e-bikes must respect the rules of the road.

Dear Editor,

With spring and outdoor activities just around the corner, I have safety concerns.

Children are going to be out and about in parks, playgrounds and on the streets. My concerns surround the electric bikes and scooters on the sidewalks and streets.

The electric scooters have now been delivered around town and will venture onto the roadways. Within the last two weeks, I witnessed an adult on a scooter on Elizabeth Street moving with the traffic; the same holds true with the electric bikes. The offenders do not respect the rules of the road.

My fear is that someone will get hurt or killed. We have enough problems with regular road traffic with speeding, tailgating and rolling stop signs.

Please talk to your kids and remind them of the rules of the road and let’s avoid injury or death this summer.
