I felt dismayed upon learning that Okotoks council once more resorted to the tactic of raising our taxes by proposing a significant hike in homeowner costs through a 15 per cent increase in our natural gas franchise fee.
One would expect that after the negative response in Calgary to this covert method of taxation, our council would realize that citizens are tired of being burdened with additional fees amidst rising inflation.
Council, like the rest of us, should be focused on reducing costs rather than continually raising taxes and fees.
