Apologies in advance to all the "Bambi" fans reading this, but I think I have a practical solution to the deer menace in Okotoks. Yes, I repeat "menace."
They have destroyed tens of thousands of dollars of private landscaping and are a constant hazard on the roadways.
I propose that every deer that takes up residence in Okotoks becomes a "Food Bank Deer". Engage Wildlife or bylaw officers to hunt them down with tranquilizer guns.
Once rendered immobile, take them to a butchering establishment. The hides could be sold to people who could use them for creative purposes and the meat could be sold to those who appreciate wild game. All proceeds go to the food bank.
Two problems solved!
