Let the Library Help Build Your Organization's Community Profile

With Polaris Community Profiles, Marigold member libraries can distribute community information and resources using the library catalog (TRACPac).

With Polaris Community Profiles, Marigold member libraries can distribute community information and resources using the library catalog (TRACPac). The Okotoks Public Library will create records for local community groups that can be accessed by patrons through TRACPac by clicking on the ‘Community’ search tab. All it takes to add a community profile to the library catalog is the completion of a short application form, which can then be returned to the Okotoks Public Library for processing.

A Community Profile will include the name of one’s organization, description of services and the geographic area in which the services are available, contact information, location, hours of operation, and general notes. Once added to the catalogue, organizations will also be able to list upcoming events that one’s group is hosting.

Please note that once the profile is uploaded the library will provide each organization access to the database so they can edit/update information as needed in the future. To access an application, please check out the library’s website at www.okotokslibrary.ca and click on Community Profiles under the Your Library link.

How satisfied are you with the services and programs at the Okotoks Public Library? Until the end of the month everyone has the chance to share thoughts and ideas of what the library can do to improve. Please take a moment to fill out the ‘Are You Satisfied?’ survey available in-house at the library or on the library’s homepage.

The first Saturday of May each year is International Free Comic Book Day. Come down to the library on May 2 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. dressed as your favorite comic book character. While at the library, everyone will get to create their own comic strip to receive a free comic book (while supplies last), plus have their names entered into a draw for some super fun prizes. A Drop-in Superhero Storytime will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon with games and crafts to follow. Plus we will be inviting participants to channel their inner crusader to strike their best pose at our photo booth. It is sure to be super fun for the whole family!
