Last week of the Olympics

The 2014 Winter Olympics have been fantastic as they always seem to be. Sochi Russia has done an amazing job and that part of Russia looks beautiful. We still have a great chance for some medals in both men and womens curling and hockey.

We still have a great chance for some medals in both men and womens curling and hockey. The inside stories presented by the commentators adds so much to the experience.

Can you imagine the determination it takes to train in your sport for four years for a chance to win an Olympic medal. I admire all the athletes so much knowing I could never stick with it like they do. There are athletes there that have been doing it for up to 16 years. I hate to see it end but for now let’s cheer on Canada for a few more medals before we say good-bye to Sochi.

Well I see we have finally confirmed a date for the Macleod Federal Conservative vote. The nomination vote to replace our ex MP Ted Menzies who resigned is broken down into three dates. The vote will take place March 6th in Pincher Creek, March 7th in Claresholm and March 8th in Okotoks.

You must have now purchased a membership for 2014 to be able to vote. There are four candidates confirmed and the ballot will allow you to vote for your first, second, third and fourth choice. You may decide to only vote for one or two etc. Seems to me if you are really only wanting your choice then you would not vote a second choice.

Anyway after we have a Conservative candidate elected then the next step will be a by-election in Macleod for our Federal representative in Parliament. I expect that will take place around the middle of May.

For those Conservative members who want to learn more about the four candidates there will be three forums held next week. February 26th in Pincher Creek, February 27th in Claresholm and Friday, February 28th in Okotoks.

I believe I have a simple answer to the ongoing problem with our Senators spending money like some sort of entitlement. Assign a payment clerk with the responsibility of processing the expenses. If expenses do not fit the criteria don’t pay them. Sounds too simple doesn’t it!
