Santa will be visiting the Okotoks Public Library this Saturday, Dec. 5 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. to share some of his favourite holiday stories with the children. This is a great opportunity for parents to bring their cameras to get a photo of the jolly fellow with their youngsters. After listening to Santa read, stop by our craft table to decorate a special Christmas card that will be delivered to seniors who are living in assisted facilities in Okotoks. You may also decorate a card at home, drop it off here and we will make sure it gets distributed.

This holiday season, the library is happy to once again be supporting the Okotoks Healthy Family Resource Centre by collecting consumable baby items (diapers, formula, diaper wipes) or cash donations. Bring your offerings down to the library and you will get to place your name on a tag on our Christmas tree. All items will be delivered to the resource centre on Dec. 21 and will be given out to families throughout the year as needed.

The library is also again running its children’s Christmas colouring contest and for the first-time has an adult colouring contest going on this month as well. Sheets can be picked up at the library, coloured and then returned before Dec. 20 when the draws for prizes will be held.

Patrons who have overdue charges on their accounts should mark their calendars to stop into the library next week (Dec. 6 to 12) when the library will be holding its semi-annual Patron Amnesty Days and patrons can pay only half of their overdue charges and the library will waive the rest. This offer does not include lost or damaged materials fines.

Library programming for January through March will be listed in the Winter 2016 Okotoks Community Guide which will be available on Dec. 9. For a complete description of library programs, please refer to our website, www.okotokslibrary.ca. Registrations for all free library programs can be made by calling 403-938-2220. Any paid program requires in-person registration beginning on the specified registration date.

Please not that on Wednesday, Dec. 9, the library will be closing at 5 p.m. to allow staff to attend our holiday party.
