Have a wonderful holiday season: Okotoks Mayor

2021 was a year filled with acts of kindness, support of neighbours, completion of many community milestones and the navigation of unexpected challenges.

2021 has been another different year.

It was a year filled with acts of kindness, support of neighbours, completion of many community milestones and the navigation of unexpected challenges. We have seen programs and services slowly return to pre-pandemic levels. I extend the Town’s heartfelt thanks to all residents for your cooperation, patience and flexibility.

In reflecting upon 2021, I am encouraged by the accomplishments that were achieved and the projects that began. Our much-loved late Mayor Bill Robertson and the council of 2017-21 navigated us through most of the year. I would like to thank them for their hard work, dedication and commitment. They left myself and the newly elected council in a positive position to continue to help Okotoks thrive as a wonderful place to live, work and play.

As we approach the holidays, we must keep community re-building in mind. The town encourages residents to shop locally! Store fronts and home-based businesses are open and ready for business. Many continue to provide services and virtual shopping opportunities. Check out sites like www.shopokotoks.ca to see what is offered!

If you are looking for ways to offer holiday support, visit www.okotoks.ca/holidaysupport for information. We want everyone to have a wonderful holiday season!

Note that there are no changes for organics, recycling or garbage collection over the holidays this year; your schedule will be the same day as usual. Please be aware that there is no Okotoks Transit service on Christmas Day. Visit www.okotoks.ca for information on town holiday scheduling.

On behalf of Council and Administration, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a joyful, healthy and prosperous new year.  We hope you, your families and friends find ways to connect and celebrate the joys of the holidays.
