Happy Canada Day!

I often feel like I won the lottery because I was born in Canada. I accept that I’m biased on this but Canada is the best country to live in for so many reasons. Freedom of the press, wide open spaces, friendly people, stable government.

I often feel like I won the lottery because I was born in Canada. I accept that I’m biased on this but Canada is the best country to live in for so many reasons. Freedom of the press, wide open spaces, friendly people, stable government. Well, that last one might be a stretch. In all seriousness Canada is awesome, Canadian’s are amazing and I am so lucky to be living in this great place with all of you.

There’s still time to sign up for the Okotoks Rotary Charity Golf Tournament. It’s on Monday, July 11. It’s a great reason to be on the golf course on a Monday and it’s always so much fun. To register please go to www.okotoksrotary.ca

I went into a pet shop. I said, “Can I buy a goldfish?” The guy said, “Do you want an aquarium?”

I said, “I don’t care what star sign it is.”

I’m looking forward to going camping for the long weekend. It will be awesome to get away for a few days with my family and enjoy the outdoors.

We reserved the campsite a long time ago and I’m sure that we will have a spot but I always feel like I’m taking a gamble going camping on a long weekend.

Eleven years ago, my wife Cory and I went out camping on the Canada Day long weekend. We didn’t have a site reserved but the campground operator at one of the campgrounds near Canmore said there were tons of open sites. First come, first served.

Well, that must have been the message to dozens of calls because when we got out there it was swarming with vehicles. Every site taken twice over. The big mistake was listening to the campground operator again when he said there were still sites available at a campground out in the Kananaskis. He gave us directions.

After about 45 minutes on a washboard gravel road we arrived just in time to see a tent going up on the last site in the campground.

We checked every campground along highway 40 on the way home to no avail.

I think I’ll double check my campsite reservation.
