This weekend the Western Wheel hosts the 15th annual Parade of Garage Sales on May 16 and it’s looking like a good one.
We have 89 garage sales taking part in the event this year,
We have a map with the location of all the garage sales on page 27 in this week’s issue.
For the first time this year we will also have an online map on our website at www.westernwheel.com with all the garage sales posted. It’ll be handy for all you garage salers to help you get from one location to another.
I love seeing how people really get into the spirit of the event, as neighbours get together to host large sales and people go all over town looking for deals. I know the parade of garage sales also attracts people from out of town to shop as well.

Last week I predicted Albertans would see a PC minority government after the May 5 election.
Wow! I was way off. What a surprise that was to see an NDP majority.

I was sad to see the fire in the 100-year-old barn home to the Bull Pen Pub, it’s been an Okotoks landmark for decades. It’s not just the Bull Pen Pub that is affected, there is a daycare and professional offices that have been forced out of the building over the fire. They’re all in my thoughts.
From the looks of it, the building must have considerable damage, but thankfully, our town’s firefighters were able to get there quickly.
