The Alexia and Kiarra Foundation along with Okotoks On Deck-NSA Canada will be holding a fundraising evening this Saturday, July 27 at Okotoks On Deck. Funds raised will help support and assist the victims from the Foothills MD community as they work to restore their lives after the impact of the recent floods.

The event will include a dinner, silent auction, live music and entertainment. There will be an appearance by “Sailesh”, the world’s funniest hypnotist.

This will be an adult only event. Tickets at $30 each are available at Okotoks On Deck or by calling 403-306-0200. Please call also if you wish to donate an item for the auction. A second event is being planned for Aug. 17. This will be a family event with plenty of activities.

More details will be announced closer to the date.

Did you know the Okotoks Food Bank is now looking after the High River area as their food bank is not able to operate at this time. This makes our group of volunteers extremely busy with items coming in and out at a much faster rate than normal. Gifts of food or money may be dropped off at the west entrance of the United Church in Okotoks. Thank you to all the volunteers who are making this happen.

The dreaded phone call:

My boss phoned me today. He said, “Is everything okay at the office?”

I said, “It is all under control. It’s been a very busy day. I haven’t stopped to take a break all day.”

“Can you do me a favour?” he asked.

I said “Of course, What is it?”

“Pick up the pace a little, I’m in the foursome behind you.”

Well, I see William and Kate had their baby boy this week. Third in line to be king!

Now the hassle of what to name him. I have a suggestion. His great grandfather is Philip, right? How about calling him Phil. To honour Phil Mickelson who won the British Open golf tournament one day before he was born!

King Phil, I like the sounds of that.

Have a great week and don’t forget to visit a farmers market soon.

A great way to buy locally made items.
