I am sure you have read in this week’s paper and on our website the terrible accident the local Sobeys owners endured last Friday. David, Joann, and their two boys are lucky to be alive. If you saw the destruction of the vehicles on TV you know it was a miracle anyone lived. When it hits so close to home we firstly pray for the wonderful family who have opened their hearts so many times in our community and then realize how fortunate we are to be alive ourselves. Let's all learn from this tragedy and be just a little more aware when we are driving on our roads this summer. It only takes a split second for your life to change forever. Let's also keep the Gilberts in our thoughts and prayers as they slowly work their life back to some kind of normal.

This Sunday the annual Show and Shine car show is in downtown Okotoks. It will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come on downtown to view hundreds of great cars. There will be vendors, live music and lots of fun happening. The streets will be closed so bring the stroller.

On Aug. 27 the Foothills Highland Games will be at the Foothills Composite. This is a great event. I still remember just how good the Scottish and Irish dancers were last year. Okotoks Ford has donated a one year lease to a new car and the committee is selling raffle tickets for $5 each. Second prize is a custom made kilt. Very cool.
We have raffle tickets for sale at The Wheel or pick one up during the car show on Sunday.
