Does Alberta look different?

It is killing me to have to write this column before the Provincial election results are in.

It is killing me to have to write this column before the Provincial election results are in. Looking at polls on Tuesday morning it looks like we are going to see quite a change! Problem is you just can’t trust the polls as people often change their mind once they get in the voting booth.

I am sitting here saying it cannot be true that we are looking at a possibility of a NDP majority in Alberta? I can see them winning lots of seats in Edmonton but the pollsters are expecting them to take the majority of the seats in Calgary as well. It just will not happen. Looks like the Wildrose are to remain strong in rural Alberta.

You have the advantage of reading this after the results are in. I am predicting a PC minority win. How did I do?

Prentice told us to look in the mirror to see who blew the money but now we can ask him to look in the mirror to see who blew the election!

I need to tell you about a fantastic success story on the weekend. On Saturday, a Mother’s Day Market was held at the Foothills Centennial Centre. A nominal fee was collected at the door with all proceeds going to our Food Bank. Along with that was a ‘Jail and Bail’ promotion with 10 characters being locked up until they raised some cash. Well at the end of the day a total of $21,000 was raised for the Food Bank! Congratulations to all involved for an unreal job well done. Makes you proud to be a part of this community, doesn’t it!

This Sunday, May 10 is Mother’s Day. A great opportunity to show our moms how much they mean to us.

Even just a call can mean the world to them.
