Daylight savings begins

I just finally figured out how to change the clock in my vehicle to regular time and now we will be going back onto Daylight Savings this Sunday, March 8 at 2 a.m. in the morning.

I just finally figured out how to change the clock in my vehicle to regular time and now we will be going back onto Daylight Savings this Sunday, March 8 at 2 a.m. in the morning. So, lets spring ahead so that we have more daylight at the end of the day. We used to change later in the spring so it can catch you off guard. The day will come that we just stay on Daylight Savings all year long!

The Alberta PC Party has finally called the nomination date for the Highwood constituency. Nominations will open on Sunday, March 8 and close Monday, March 16 at 5:00 p.m. A candidates forum will be held in Okotoks at the Community Centre on Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m. Voting day will be Saturday, March 28.

At this point our MLA Danielle Smith and Okotoks town councillor Carrie Fischer are the only ones who have declared they will be running. I have heard other rumours but we will have to wait and see. The beauty of this nomination is that there is only a couple weeks to campaign and then you can relax until the probable spring election is called. You must have been a PC member for the past six months to run.

I was reading an article the other day about Prince Edward Island. Anyone who has been there realizes what a beautiful small island it is. PEI has a small population with some tourism and potatoes as their income. The problem is that is not enough to run a province so they receive 600 million in federal transfer payments from the ‘have’ provinces. There are 145,000 people who call PEI home. 35,000 live in the capital, Charlottetown. Their debt is substantial. Think of all the money that Canadians could save if they combined all the eastern Canada provinces into one! Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and PEI all as one provincial government. It would cut down on teams at the Brier but save Canadians mega millions in government costs alone!

Just a thought!

Come on groups and businesses, today is the day to call 403-692-1865 and sign up your team for the Bowl for Kids sake which will be held on Monday, March 16th. The event is held to raise money for our local area Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization.

More English language quirks: The bandage was wound around the wound.

We must polish the Polish furniture. I did not object to the object.
