Our Okotoks Dawgs baseball team finished the season in second place overall. Medicine Hat are the regular season champions.
Now the playoffs begin. In the Western Major Baseball League’s West Division the Medicine Hat Mavericks will go up against the Moose Jaw Express. The Dawgs (31-13) will take on the Lethbridge Bulls (23-23). Both series are the best of five.
The Dawgs will start the playoffs at home in Seaman Stadium at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, July 31) and Aug. 1. Let’s get out and cheer our boys on. I have a good feeling about this year’s team. Tickets are available at the ballpark office right up to game time. See you at the game. Go Dawgs go!

Can you believe the crazy weather we have been experiencing?
Man, night after night of rain and hail. My place got hit three times in the last week by hail. Monday night the low was plus 4. You could see your breath at 10 p.m.
As if our friends in High River haven’t had enough heartache, last Tuesday they got hit with a hail storm that damaged hundreds of vehicles. Hay that has been cut is rotting in the field as it just doesn’t get a chance to dry.
Let’s hope for a warm sunny August or we are going to feel like we didn’t get a summer!

The Alberta Equestrian Federation is hosting a trail ride to raise funds for the Millarville Therapeutic Riding Association and two other associations in Alberta.
The fundraising trail ride will be held on Sept. 22 and start at the Rafter Six Ranch.
Bring your own horse or for those who can’t there will be horses available to rent for the day. The ride in the Kananaskis will be outstanding. For more info please contact Allison at 403-253-4411 ext 5.
