Was the federal election result what you expected?
It will be interesting to see how the country moves forward with a Liberal majority government and strong Conservative representation across the prairies.
Each party brings strengths and weaknesses in different areas.
I hope that we can learn from the past, build on our strengths and not deteriorate into an “us vs. them”, “east vs. west” feud.
In his victory speech, incoming Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that “Leadership is about bringing people of all different perspectives together.”
I’m encouraged that this is the current mindset because our local Conservative Members of Parliament bring many great qualities to the table.
Thank you to everyone who put their name forward for election in our Foothills riding. Democracy only works when people with different perspectives step up to the challenge.
This long campaign was more of a challenge than usual.
Congratulations to John Barlow on his re-election here in the Foothills riding! He performed very well throughout the campaign and the people of Foothills responded with overwhelming support.
I wonder who will become the next leader of the federal Conservative party?
The only name I’ve heard out there in the national news is Doug Ford and God help us if he’s the best option.
Obviously, the Conservative party needs to rebuild with a fresh new leader, a leader who can further Conservative interests within a Liberal majority government.
I can’t think of anyone better than our local Member of Parliament, John Barlow to lead the Conservative party in this new era of Canadian politics.
