You win some and you lose some.

Okotoks hockey fans were on both sides of that saying last week.

The Jr. A Oilers season came to an end when the lost to the Olds Grizzlys on March 12.

While not the perfect ending, the organization is always having success in getting young men hockey scholarships.

Meanwhile, the Jr. B Bisons won a barnburner in beating the High River Flyers in six games in the Heritage League playoffs.

It brought back the days of the old Flyers-Oilers senior men’s games. Both of the towns’ barns were full as this old-time rivalry was reheated.

The Jr. B Flyers had their best season in history and helped pick up the spirits of our friends to the south who were devastated by the June 20 flood.

Keep up the good work Bisons in the final against the Blackfalds Wranglers.

Check out the great line-up of entertainment this week.

The Holy Trinity Academy students will showcase their talent with their musical production of the Broadway show “Curtains.”

It’s always amazing to see such young talent shine in these top-notch performances.

Don’t miss the A Room Full of Sound Concert Series triple bill performance this weekend, the final of this season, featuring Okotoks musician Dwight Forseth, Diamond Valley’s Bruce Innes and Alberta musician John Wort Hannam. Innes was part of the Original Caste which had the big hit “One Tin Soldier.”

You won’t want to miss the release of Jim and Lynda McLennan’s first CD together. Titled Dancing onAir, it will be released at their concert on March 29 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Okotoks.

They are not only talented singers, the McLennans are excellent fly-fishers. Hopefully, things will warm up and they will be dropping a line.
