Calgary Mayor Nenshi is all worked up that failing to fully sanction Gay Straight Alliances makes Albertans look like the kind of hillbillies we are! Wow. Why do we even need Bill 10? Why do we need government involved in this? If gay kids and straight kids want to be friends and have a club at school then let it happen. We really don’t need to include teachers, government or anyone else. If they want to form a club and meet during recess, lunch, before or after school then just do it and leave the politics out of it. In high school, I was a member of a fraternity and we often met at lunch. My gosh there may even have been gay students in our club! Big deal...

As I write my column on Tuesday the Alberta Wildrose Party is meeting to discuss their future. Will they join the Conservatives? Will they stay as the opposition and have more MLA’s cross the floor? To think just over a year ago the Wildrose was flying high as Redford was being ripped apart for her spending habits. What a difference a year makes eh! If the Wildrose party all but disappears it will be another decade before a party gets the strength to take on the mighty Progressive Conservatives party of Alberta. A pity in a way...

You know how they say if you wash your car it will rain? Well I proved that theory right this Christmas. I bought a bunch of my grandchildren sleds so when they come over to open their presents they can slide down the hill near my home. I bought them a couple weeks ago when we had snow! Now it looks like there will be no sledding as the snow all melted. I need another idea and fast!

There’s only about one week til Christmas so if you are not ready may I suggest you get out there pretty soon to do some shopping. Many local shops have extended hours to help you out. Even I have started this year already as it is just too stressful to leave it to the last minute.
