Well, this week we say goodbye to a friend and longtime editor at the Wheel. John has been a rock over the past 15 plus years at the Wheel and his columns have been enjoyed by thousands on a weekly basis. His ability to include his personal life in his writing has a huge readership feeling a part of his ups and downs in life. Well, today he is on an up.

Spent some time visiting guests in the Lions campground on the weekend. Being that I don’t like getting dirty I have never been a camper but must admit that is one great facility and the washrooms are as good as being home. Hats off to our local Lions for the great job they do with that facility. It is a tribute to our community.

I see that Roger Brooks, an expert in tourism, community branding etc. is coming to Okotoks on August 28 to speak to landlords, businesses and property owners in the downtown core.

Can you believe it’s Calgary Stampede time already! Rain is gone and we are in for 10 days of hot summer weather and plenty of rodeo action. I can hardly wait to watch the chucks again this year. Yahoo!
