The Okotoks Acoustic Christmas “Food Bank” Benefit concert will be held at the Foothills Centennial Centre on Tuesday, Dec. 16 and Wednesday, Dec. 17. Start time is 7 p.m. More than 20 local area performers will knock your socks off with their talent. This is one incredible evening and definitely worth attending. Last year a couple of the performances were so good I had a tear in my eye and I don’t cry easy!

Let’s fill the centre both nights and not only have a great time but raise some money for the Food Bank at the same time. Tickets can be purchased at Sobeys, Safeway or Royal LePage Foothills on Elizabeth Street. When you come please bring a non-perishable food item with you. See you there.

Each year the Wheel runs a feature for Remembrance Day and donates a portion of the funds to the Royal Canadian Legion. This year $540 was donated to the Royal Canadian Legion Turner Valley Branch #78. A photo of the donation will appear in our Weekend edition.

Thank you to all who participated.

Did you know that the Western Wheel is available free of charge to anyone interested in the entire Municipal District of Foothills! If you are not getting it in your mailbox please contact Canada Post and ask for the ‘consumer choice’ category. Or, there are several locations throughout the MD where copies may be picked up free of charge.

I am telling you this again as someone told me they were told that we get $250,000 from the Town of Okotoks to deliver the Wheel locally! Oh, how I wish that was true. The advertisers are our only source of revenue so please support them so that we can continue and provide relevant news to our extended community.

All the grade 3 classes at the Westmount school in Okotoks have decided to help collect funds this month for the Western Wheel Cares program. Their theme is “Santa knows......giving is best.”

Wonderful to see our youth get behind projects like this and give a helping hand. To raise funds they will be putting on two bake sales, singing carols, and then a final Christmas concert. We are proud of you grade three’s.
