Mrs. Vivian Pippus of High River, Alberta passed away on August 31, 2021 at the High River Hospital at the age of 88 years.

Vivian is survived by her sons: Ken (Cathryn) and Greg (Sandra) Pippus, and daughter Sharon Forbes. Grandchildren: Geoffrey, Erin, Heather, and Robin Pippus, Jennifer Murphy and Shawn Forbes. Great Grandchildren: Finnegan and Josie Murphy. She is also survived by her brother James Culham, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Vivian was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Pippus and her brother Bruce Culham.

Vivian was born near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in a 2-room log cabin on the family homestead, along with her brothers Bruce and James Culham. After high school, she graduated as a Certified Restaurant Manager from the Food Services program at S.A.I.T.; the training she received there served her well throughout her life, as she cooked in restaurants, for family and friends, and in her own small catering business. She often took her homemade goodies to friends and neighbours who were ill or had a new baby or just needed a pick-me-up.

Over the course of her life, Vivian lived in Cabri, Buffalo, High Prairie, Bindloss, Medicine Hat, Calgary, Okotoks, Nanton, finally settling in High River. While in Medicine Hat, she met Wilfred Pippus, whom she married in 1954. They had 3 children - Ken, Sharon, and Greg. Vivian was very proud of: successfully surviving being widowed at 41 years of age with a 19, 16, and 3 year old; owning and operating “Viv’s Variety Store” in Okotoks; being a cancer survivor and becoming the first Can Surmount Coordinator in High River; passing her Real Estate exam and working as a realtor for J. Ross Real Estate.

Over the years, she also sold Avon, drove a school bus, and was a supervisor at the Medicine Tree Manor.

She loved playing Bridge, gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting, singing in several choirs, and being a member of the High River Hospital Auxiliary.

A Private Family Memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
