October 29, 1935 – October 18, 2021

Bill was born in Medicine Hat, the only son to Wilfred and Hilda Dais. He died with wife Muriel, holding his hand and with their “almost” daughter, Anne Story at his side. He is survived by his sister, Jean Mullasta of Delta, B.C., cousins, a niece, and several nephews. Special friends,Will Bussey and Shane Kraft were with him in his last hours.

Bill was always a teacher; his career spanned the years 2960-1990. When asked what he taught, his reply was always “kids”. He was most honoured in 2005 to be nominated by a former Fairview Jr High student, as one of the 100 memorable Alberta teachers.

After he retired from the Calgary Board of Education and moved to Mountain Park Ranch, southwest of Turner Valley, he became a firearms safety instructor and successfully taught many people the importance of safe handling of firearms.

He and Muriel also began the breeding of Fullblood Limousin cattle, thanks to the guidance of their neighbors Mary and Art Howe. When he retired for the third time, they moved to Black Diamond and Bill’s health further declined.

He received absolutely outstanding care from the nursing staff and medical staff, especially his doctor Jacques Branch at the Oilfields Hospital, from mid June until mid September when he was moved to Long-term care at the High River Hospital when he died on October 18th, 2021.

At Bill’s request, there will be no service, Snodgrass Funeral Homes, Okotoks are caring for him. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to:
