July 3, 1946 – Winnipeg, Manitoba January 1, 2021 – Calgary, Alberta

Terry Stephenson (nee Alsip) passed away peacefully at Walden Age Care on Friday, January 1, 2021 at the age of 74 years after a long-fought battle with dementia.

Terry was born July 3, 1946 in Winnipeg, MB. Her family moved to Calgary when she was nine and then in 1962 the family moved on to an acreage in DeWinton. Terry went to High School in Okotoks, AB graduating in 1964. After graduating Terry went on to work for Shaw Construction, which she loved. In July 1967 Terry was crowned Miss Pot of Gold for the Calgary Jaycees.

April 12, 1969 Terry married her sweetheart, Dave Stephenson. Over the next thirteen years the two would have four children, Tammy (1969), Shawn (1971), Rod (1972) and Clay (1976). The family would live in four different RCMP postings across Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories, before circumstances would ultimately bring the young family back to Calgary in 1980. In July 1982 Dave passed away from ALS.

Terry was blessed and met the second love of her life, Lloyd, in 1988 where she was able to share love and laughter again. In 1998 Terry and Lloyd moved out to DeWinton and enjoyed country life again.

Terry’s friendly, warm, outgoing, fun personality enabled her to make friends everywhere she went. She loved her family more than anything. It was obvious to anyone who spent time around her that her grandchildren lit up her world, even while battling dementia.

Terry is survived by her partner of thirty-two years, Lloyd Hoffman, her daughter Tammy (Scott) Patterson; sons Rod (Jillian) Stephenson, and Clay Stephenson; and five grandchildren, Kassie, Robbie and Cole Patterson; Ryan and Wyatt Stephenson. She is also survived by her brothers Rick (Marsha) Alsip and several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her infant son Shawn Stephenson, loving husband David Stephenson, and her parents, Roy and Ethna Alsip.

A Celebration of Terry’s Life will be held at a later date.

Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Terry’s obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Walden Age Care and special thank you to the group of staff in Vista Waterton, the Recreation Department and Dr. Celis, for their compassion and loving care over the past twenty months.
