Ted Maciejewski, beloved husband for forty-nine years, of Grace Maciejewski, of Black Diamond, AB, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at the age of 76 years.
Ted was born in Kimberley, BC, to parents John and Angela, both immigrants from Poland. He graduated from Kimberley High School. Ted was a member of the R.O.T.C. (cadet) Organization, Junior Forest Wardens, and Local Ratepayers Association. He was a volunteer with local girls fastball teams. Ted worked mainly as a Master Carpenter. In 1967 he worked for PanArctic Oils as an expediter where he organized cargo and food shipments from Calgary, AB, to the Arctic. During this time he met and married his loving wife Grace. Shortly after 1971 he moved on to Radium Hot Springs where he ran his family’s motel, the ‘Gina Motel’, with his wife, until it was sold a few years later. It was then that he started up ‘M & G Contracting’ doing various jobs himself which led him to Lindel Cedar Homes, where he built beautiful cedar homes from scratch right from the foundation to the finished product in the Invermere Valley, often with his wife working side by side. Ted always took pride in providing top quality workmanship, striving to the point of perfection. He was so proud of the homes he built, especially his own in Black Diamond, AB, where he and his wife Grace settled, and proudly raised their two children Michele and Jason. He also took great pride in a bridge he constructed for Alberta Forestry that is west of Turner Valley, including memorial projects for Kananaskis Country. He continued on this path of home building and renovations for well over a decade, before transitioning into commercial building and concrete cribbing. Ted enjoyed fly fishing, ice fishing, dirt biking, softball, was a car enthusiast, loved animals, really enjoyed reading and history and always loved to learn. He had a passion for teaching others, especially his children. Ted loved drag racing with a passion, even racing his own car on the quarter mile track in Spokane, WA. This led to countless family excursions to that very same track, where the family camped side by side to the top alcohol dragsters. We will treasure these memories forever. Ted’s most memorable vacation was to Cuba with his family in January 2017. His favorite quote was “Feed ‘em Fish”. Ted will be most remembered for his strong spirit, ‘larger than life’ personality, and of course his feisty sense of humor. All who knew him will recall his extraordinary and unique ability to tell a great story.
Besides his loving wife Grace, Ted will be dearly missed by his son Jason Maciejewski of Black Diamond, AB, daughter Michele and her spouse Cory Taylor of Okotoks, AB; brothers and sisters-in-law, Zygmont and Gail Majeski of Calgary, AB and John and Mary Maciejewski of Seattle, WA; and sister-inlaw Sheila Maciejewski of Vancouver, BC.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, John and Angela Maciejewski; brother Maryan Maciejewski, and sister and brother-in-law, Gina and Bill Vlaanderen. He loved many dogs over the years, especially Corky, Bubba, Danty, Joey and his current dog Marley
The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. They also wish to thank the nurses and doctors at Oilfields General Hospital in Black Diamond who cared for Ted in his final days.
