January 23, 1940 – October 12, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kenny, our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather better known as Papa. Ken passed away surrounded by family on October 12, 2023.

Kenny was born in High River AB on January 23, 1940, to Gladys and Byron Stauffer. He and his wife Carol made their home with their 5 children in Turner Valley, where they just celebrated their 60th Anniversary in June of this year. In the earlier years, Ken was a very active member in his community, sitting on town council, chairman of the parade committee, coaching hockey and supporting the youth of the community.

In his later years, Kenny enjoyed golfing, managing his grandson’s hockey team, and cheering on all his grandchildren in their numerous sporting and dance events. His greatest enjoyment of all was his family. Once retired, he took great pride working in his yard, playing with his great-grandchildren, and making his daily walk downtown to visit with everyone he passed by. Kenny was always the life of the party with his unique humour, sassy jokes, and fancy moves when he whisked Carol around on the dance floor.

Kenny was predeceased by his parents, his brother Joe, his sister Doris, and his oldest son Mike. He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife Carol; daughters Colleen, Tamara (Tom), and Kim (Kevin); and son Pat (Gail); as well as 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Grief is the last act of love we must give those who we cherish. Where there is deep grief, there was great love. Kenny will be greatly missed by all who he touched throughout his lifetime, especially his wife Carol.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 21, 2023, at the Royal Canadian Legion in Turner Valley at 3:00 pm.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to The Turner Valley Legion, Branch #78 (121 Sunset Blvd East, Turner Valley AB T0L 2A0).
