1924 – 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Russell Alvin Rasmussen on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the age of 95 years.  Russell was predeceased by his wife, Betty Rose, in July, 2016. Russell was born on the family farm in Carberry, Manitoba. He was the youngest of 3 boys. In 1943, Russell joined the RCAF and was off to WWII. At wars end, he returned to Brandon with his English bride and after a few years, re-enlisted in the RCAF where he spent the majority of his working career, being stationed in England, Germany and Canada. He retired while serving in Ottawa and then moved to Alberta in 1968. Subsequently, the family moved to Chilliwack in 1972, where Dad resided until 2016 when he moved to Black Diamond, Alberta. Dad will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sherrill (Randy); son, Wayne (Darlene); son Gary (Najah); and son, Douglas. There are also five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a big thank you to Dr. S. Hart of Okotoks and the caring and compassionate staff at Tudor Manor who did an excellent job of looking after our Dad. A private Celebration of Life was held by the family on February 15, 2020.
