1927 - 2021

Robert Gray Miller, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and greatgreat-grandfather went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on November 16, 2021, in High River AB at the age of 94.

Robert was born at the High River Hospital to Alexander and Mary (Gray) Miller on February 14, 1927. Robert was the second oldest of three children.

He married Isobel Mae Hardonk on June 20, 1953. He lived 93 of his 94 years on the farm 2 miles south of Longview that his dad bought after returning home from WW1. He was a hard worker all his life, raising a family of 6 on a half section of land and often working other jobs to supplement his income. He was still rebuilding the engine of an old John Deere right up until this last month.

Robert was a devout Christian with unwavering faith, and he was devoted to Isobel. He had a dry sense of humour that you sometimes didn’t catch until you saw the twinkling eyes. He has always said, “family is most important” and repeated that often in his final days making sure everyone in the family knew that we were to take care of Mom. They spent 26 years going to Arizona in the winters where he enjoyed many activities, especially woodworking.

Robert is predeceased by his older brother Alexander James Miller who was killed in action on April 2, 1945, in Holland, his father Alexander in 1971, his mother Mary in 1988 and his younger sister Jean Caspell (Miller) who passed away in June, 2006.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Isobel, his 6 children and their spouses: Robert (Linda) Miller, Gordon Miller, Ken Miller, Janette (Daniel) Fehr, David (Maureen) Miller, Kathryn (Jeffrey) Reimer, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-greatgrandchild and many nieces and nephews.

As a family we would like to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the High River Hospital for their compassionate care.

A private Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the High River Baptist Church. The service will also be live-streamed and can be viewed on Robert’s tribute page at www.lylereeves.com.
