It is with sadness that we announce the graceful passing of Lorraine Elizabeth Slusar at 93 years of age. She is lovingly remembered by her children Garth (Clover), Dana (Cindy), Dale (Dee), Ted (Rita), Mike (Lorraine), Rod, Lynn (Frank), grandchildren Jessica, Zoe, Jonah, Kyla, Jason, Deanna and Matthew and great-grandchildren Jackson, Zane, Bristol and Cooper.

Lorraine was a bright light. Her quick wit, encouragement and brilliant sense of humor brought positivity to the lives of everyone she knew. Lorraine was incredibly clever and never lost her ability to “go for it”. Lorraine’s patience, culinary skills, elegance and strength were legendary.

Lorraine was born in Odessa, Sask and grew up on the family farm before becoming a teacher. In 1951, Lorraine married Thaddeus Slusar. Between 1952 - 1964 Lorraine gave birth to 7 children. Ted and Lorraine were very active in the Lions Club. They travelled internationally, including New Zealand. Lorraine was widowed in 2003. She was strong and sincere in the way she handled life. Between 2012 – 2019 Lorraine relocated due to advancing dementia. She kept a gentle sweetness and spark about her. Lorraine overcame adversity with amazing integrity and maintained her generous spirit.

In honor of Lorraine, take a moment to appreciate the sky and allow yourself to be comforted by her wise words, “It is what it is”.
