Lois (Loi) Ironside

Posted

Lois was born January 2, 1932 in the Innisfail Hospital to parents John and Ellen Jensen.

Lois was always a very active child. At a very young age she helped organize the Tip Top Teen Club of Central Alberta and for several years after was asked to be their key-note speaker and she did.In 1947 Lois moved to High River with her family and attended the High River High School.

After she finished school she joined the RCAF. She was sent to Trenton in Ontario for basic training. She discovered she was very interested in the supply department and specialized in that. Upon graduation she received the highest marks ever given in that department. She received commendations for this. Lois spent all of her RCAF career in Edmonton. If anyone in the country needed anything, she found it for them.

After serving her country, she was employed by AGT, later Telus, for the next 25 plus years. She worked in High River, Okotoks, Calgary, Lethbridge and Grand Prairie during this time.

Upon retirement Loi and Alf moved to an acreage west of Aldersyde. Here she started raising sheep and goats. Loi loved her little lambs, they followed around like little puppies. Loi loved to garden and walking. It was not unusual to find Loi with her red cap on and her dogs by her side in the field picking rocks for her driveway. Lois was a beautiful, tall, slender woman that worked hard all her life and she loved it.

Lois will be missed by Alf and his family, Arlone, her only surviving sister, cousin Skip and the best friend and neighbor that anyone could ask for Kim (Ron) Fehr and their family, many nieces and nephews across Canada and her loving little cat “Brownie”.

Lois was one of those people that never asked for much but gave her all. This world was a better place with Lois in it.

Loi asked that there be no service but in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to High River Home Care, Box 5638, High River AB T1V 1M7, or the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 29 St NW, Calgary T2N 4N2.

You will be greatly missed Loi. God’s speed be at peace.
