On October 19, 2022, Lawrence “Laurie”
Frederick Hodson of Okotoks, 83, passed
away peacefully at Dulcina Hospice in NW
Calgary.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday,
November 5, 2022, at 1:30 pm - Snodgrass
Funeral Home, 200 Woodgate Rd, Okotoks,
AB, officiated by Reverend Norbert
Haukenfrers of St. Peter’s Anglican Church.
Immediately following the service, internment
will take place at the Okotoks Cemetery.
Light refreshments will be served back at
Snodgrass following the internment.
Laurie was born in Nordegg, AB, on
June 14, 1939. He was married to Gail
Elizabeth Hodson (nee Mathie) for 56 years,
from December 31, 1959, until she predeceased
him in 2016.
Laurie worked at the City of Calgary as a
Benefit Specialist in the Human Resources
Department before retiring, but his true
calling was politics. Laurie sat on Okotoks
Town Council for 18+ years and had a
genuine passion for Women’s Rights, Green
Initiatives and fighting for the community he
loved so much.
Laurie loved many different activities but
was particularly interested in fly fishing and
pheasant hunting – spending many, many
hours on the Sheep and Bow Rivers and
hunting with his beloved black lab, Cleo.
Laurie is survived by his 3 children; daughter
Traci Sharpe (Ed), son Thomas Hodson (Judy)
and son John Hodson (Kelley). He is also
survived by his sister, Bernice Zubec and
grandchildren Jason Dalla Costa (Ashley),
Chantelle Bartek (Ryan), Cody Hodson
(Samantha), Jeffrey Dalla Costa (LeeAnn)
and Keegan Hodson (Greyson). Laurie also is
survived by 6 great-grandchildren – Skylar,
Blaise, Jaxon, Kaiden, Madison and Adam, as
well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
donations be made to Dulcina Hospice, 110
Evans Park Manor, NW, Calgary.
