October 31, 1936 - January 12, 2022

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Keith Robert Swan on January 12, 2022, at home in Okotoks, Alberta.

Keith was born October 31, 1936, in Eston, Saskatchewan. Keith is lovingly remembered by his wife Bernice, daughters Corinne and Linnea and his most precious granddaughter Amelia. He also leaves behind his sister Edith Hamilton, sisters-in-law Bertha Swan and Frances Wakelin, and many nieces and nephews, who he was so fond of. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex, and Hilda (Hawkes), three brothers Doug, Jack, and Garth. His sisters-in-law Shirley Swan and Helen Swan, brothers-in-law Bill Hamilton and Ron Wakelin, and his nephew Doug Swan.

Keith spent his early childhood on the farm near Eston, Saskatchewan, moving to Saskatoon with his parents when he was 13. In 2006, he moved to Calgary, Alberta to be close to his family and in 2010, made the move to Okotoks. While he loved Okotoks, his heart never left Saskatchewan. He worked at Quaker Oats for many years until it closed, then working in Accounting at Central Canada Potash. In 1983, he had the opportunity to join in business with his brother and nephew at the United Group. He enjoyed working with numbers and his steadfast work ethic and keen eye for accuracy throughout his work life, provided a role model for his daughters.

Keith’s greatest joy was his family, and he proudly attended many dance and music performances. However, participating in sports was really his favourite thing. From a very young age, he developed his competitive spirit in any sporting pursuit presented. Winters were spent at the curling rink, curling with his brothers in many a bonspiel, and taking pride in his ability to be the Skip for the competitive teams he led with his pals on the Swan team from the Granite Curling Club. He was a member of the Canada Dry Eight-Ender Club and served as President of the Granite Curling Club. Summers were spent on the ball diamond, joining championship baseball teams, Burnell Senior softball, umpiring Senior softball tournaments, and many rounds of golf at the Greenbryre Golf Course. A definite highlight was when he got to golf the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland. Keith also keenly followed politics and actively participated in several federal and provincial election campaigns. He kept his mind sharp with crosswords and was a formidable opponent playing Bridge and Crib around town. He particularly enjoyed spirited games with his daughters, and on his annual trips to visit his sister in Victoria. He dearly loved animals, from the dogs on the farm to his beloved pets, Bubba and Tankie Boy, to the deer and squirrels that would come and visit him every day at the condo.

Keith will be missed so much, but especially by his young granddaughter that had a special close, loving, fun relationship with her grandpa.
A private family service is being held in Okotoks with internment to follow in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Memorial contributions may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
