December 24, 1951 - March 8, 2022
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts
that we announce the sudden passing of our
father, grandfather, brother and son, Keith
Albert Poffenroth, on March 8, 2022.
Keith is survived by his daughter Karen
Poffenroth, his grandson Roane Keith, his
father Ed Poffenroth, brothers Larry (Janis)
of Kelowna, Gerry (Lynne) of Toronto, twin
sister Carol of Okotoks and numerous
nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends,
and neighbors. Keith was predeceased by
his mother Mary, in 2007.
Keith was born in Calgary on
December 24, 1951. He attended Red Deer
Lake School and graduated from Lord
Beaverbrook High School in Calgary. He
was raised on a farm west of DeWinton and
participated in numerous 4-H club events
while growing up on the family farm. He
followed in his parent’s footsteps by ranching
in the Longview area for almost 50 years.
Keith was an active member of the East
Longview community and will be missed
by his many friends in the area. For many
years he and a group of neighbors were
avid season ticket holders with the Calgary
Stampeders; they even had their own party
bus to travel to and from the games. Keith
enjoyed fishing trips with special friends to
the Northwest Territories, coastal BC and
Mexico.
Several years ago, Keith acquired a
vintage MBG Roadster which brought him
enjoyment and a few exciting road trips.
Roane and Grandpa Keith were looking
forward to driving lessons in the Roadster.
Keith had very recently started an addition
onto his house which he took great pride
and enjoyment in planning and overseeing
construction.
We will all miss his easy-going personality,
his kindness, and his passion for family and
his ranching community.
A private family funeral will be held in the
coming days, followed by a celebration of life
at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations
