With the deepest sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved and vibrant Kay Hicks, on November 5, 2021.

Kay was born in Trochu, Alberta, was raised in Carbon, Alberta, and spent the majority of her life in Calgary, Alberta. After losing her husband at a very young age, Kay attended Henderson College and began a career as a hardworking single mother until she met and married Bob Hicks in January, 1974

Kay had a long, successful career, including having worked for Ralph Klein in the Mayor’s office, at the City of Calgary, throughout his entire tenure. Kay and Bob retired and settled in Okotoks, Alberta, in 2009. Kay was an inspiration to all, having battled serious liver disease, surviving 2 liver transplants and many other illnesses, all without complaint. Kay enjoyed a bountiful and fulfilling life, travelling the world with her loving husband Bob and spending time with her family and friends.

She will be best remembered for her zest for life, witty sense of humour, phenomenal cooking skills and her infectious enthusiasm for everything.

Kay is survived by her husband, Bob Hicks, 2 daughters, Vicki Pruden (Russ); Angie Fredell (Kim Alston); 2 stepdaughters, Laurie Huggard (Craig) and Lisa Webber; four grandchildren, Jesse Pruden (Robyn), Jennifer Snow (Adam), Heather Pruden (Seth), Ashley Kaczur (Rob); and 1 step-grandson, Braden Webber; 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia and Cole Snow. 2 sisters, Joyce Farthing (Robert); and Myrna Jensen (Lawrence).
