It is with deep, deep sorrow that the family of John Lamb announces his passing on Friday, January 31, 2020, at the age of 73. He passed away at Foothills Country Hospice after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
John was born in Whiston, Merseyside, England. He furthered his education, earning a Higher National Diploma in mechanical engineering. In 1980 John emigrated, with his wife and young family, to Calgary Alberta. He worked for many, many years in the oil and gas industry until his retirement at the age of 71. In 2004 John and his wife, Julie, moved from Calgary to an acreage south of Okotoks, where they enjoyed many happy years until moving into Okotoks in July 2019.
John is survived by his loving wife of over 44 years, Julie. Three sons, Matthew, Andrew (Shelby) and Christopher (Kaysley.) Grandchildren Adam, Lexi, Hayley, twins Carter and Connor, Avery, step-grandson Wesley and Jovie. He is also survived by family in England, brother-in-law Mark (Karen) and many nieces and nephews. John will be sadly missed by his fur babies Lucy and Sterling. John was pre-deceased by his father Joseph, mother Irene and
sister Lorraine and, more recently, his fur baby London.
After raising their family, John and Julie spent several years vacationing in Mexico and enjoying cruises to various parts of the world, including a memorable cruise to Alaska with John’s sister, Lorraine, before her passing. More recently, they rediscovered the joy of camping in their trailer and had planned many more trips in their retirement.
The family would like to thank Jennifer Roach from Okotoks home care. The wonderful staff at the High River Cancer Clinic. The amazing and compassionate nurses and volunteers at Foothills Country Hospice and Dr. Janna Van Tonder.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 14, 2020, at 2:00pm at Snodgrass Funeral Home in Okotoks.
