Our beloved Mother, Nana and Great
Grandmother Jean Hardy, resident of
Eastend, Saskatchewan, Calgary, Alberta
and Black Diamond, Alberta passed away on
September 2, 2022 at the age of 96 years.

Jean was born May 17, 1926 in Wayne,
Alberta. She received her education in Wayne,
Mount Royal College in Calgary and at the
Calgary General Hospital where she became
a Registered Nurse.

Jean was very proud of her calling and when
she wasn’t raising and nurturing her family,
nursing was her career of choice. She was a
strong and loving person, slow to anger and
quick to forgive. She enjoyed gardening and
volunteering in her community. Jean was an
avid knitter and knit countless sweaters for
family and friends, countless pairs of socks
and mittens for the homeless and countless
caps for premature babies. In her spare time
her knitting needles were never still.

Jean had a strong faith in the Lord and was
for many years a member of Lewis Memorial
United Church in Turner Valley and also The
Millarville Community Church.

Jean was devoted to her family and will
be deeply missed by her daughter-in-law
Linda MacArthur; son Gordon (Joan) Hardy,
grandchildren: Frank, Garth and Anneliese;
daughter Leslie (Arthur) McElroy,grandchildren:
Christopher, Erin, Kimberly, Colleen, Tim, Mark,
Lara, Lee and Daniel; daughter Karen (Fred)
Partridge, grandchildren Scott and Kevin;
and several great grandchildren. Jean is also
survived by her brother Alan (Ivy) States and
many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of
forty-nine years, Harold Hardy, her son Kenneth
Hardy, her special sister-in-lawWinifred Hardy,
her parents Joy Morton States and E. Joy
States and six siblings.

Jean Hardy’s family wishes to thank the caring
staff at Shawnessy Lodge in Calgary, the Swift
Current Hospital, the extended care unit at
the Shaunavon Hospital, Foyer St. Joseph
Nursing Home in Pontiex and the Eastend Wolf
Willow Health Centre for their dedication and
compassion.

A Memorial Service for Jean Hardy will
be held on Monday, September 12, 2022
at 11:00 am, at the Stony Plain Alliance Church,
2 Keystone Drive, Stony Plain, Alberta, Pastor
Kimberly McElroy officiating. The service will
be followed by a lunch.

Memorial Donations in Jean’s memory may
be made to a charity of one’s choice.
