It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Warren Holmes at age 61. Warren passed on October 13th at Foothills Country Hospice, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Warren was born in Manitoba, he and his family moved to the Okotoks area in the mid 70’s.He attended junior and senior high school in Okotoks. He was a very active person who played hockey in his youth and particularly enjoyed volleyball and squash as an adult.

Warren had an aptitude for all things mechanical and pursued a career in automotive mechanics while still in his teens. In his twenties and thirties, he enjoyed working on his race cars and drag racing at Race City Speedway in Calgary.

He loved the outdoors, and especially the mountains. Warren enjoyed snowmobiling with friends in the winter and riding his motorcycle in the warmer months. He loved growing things, be it flowers, vegetables, or trees and over the years transformed his acreage property into a beautiful mini forest. Warren loved his property and spent much time and effort maintaining it. He retired at age 45 and was lucky enough to spend the next 16 years doing what he loved most, be it working at home or travelling. While he loved his property and was very proud of what he had accomplished at home, Warren loved to travel to warmer climates. He and Kathy enjoyed many road trips across the U.S as well as several tropical vacations. He always loved Costa Rica and had several lovely (and sometimes adventurous) vacations in that beautiful part of the world.

He is survived by his wife Kathy and brother Bruce. He will be loved and missed forever.

There will be no service at Warren’s request.

If so desired, donations can be made in Warren’s name to Foothills Country Hospice.
