Ethel May Foster passed away peacefully on November 23, 2020 in Wetaskiwin surrounded by family.

She was born July 10, 1928 in Taber, Alberta. Ethel is married to Roy Foster and celebrated 72 years of marriage last April. She grew up on a farm near Retlaw, Alberta with 11 brothers and sisters.

Our treasured mother came from a musical family and enjoyed a professional musical career as a long time musicians union member, playing organ at the Calgary Petroleum Club and dates at the Capri Hotel in Red Deer, Alberta. She also worked as a Sales Woman for Heintzman Piano Co. in Calgary. Mom’s hobbies included her garden in Millarville where raspberries, peas, and flowers flourished. She made the campfire “fire pit” come alive with laughter and fun as she bounced to the rhythm of the music from her accordian. She also enjoyed snowmobiling up in the high country and even had the nickname of “Slider”. Ethel and her surviving sisters Helen and Lilian, were best friends all their life and had tight knit bond and kept close all their lives.

Six years ago an angel came into her life named “Debbie”. She has been the glue that has kept her going all these years, after many health issues, Debbie was always there for her. They became very close and had bond that many will never know.

Ethel was predeceased by her father, Fred; mother, Ferol; brothers, Fred, Louis, Leonard, Norman and Jim; sisters, Blanche, Eldora, Lila and Flora. Ethel is survived by her husband, Roy Foster; sisters, Helen and Lilian; children, Eldon (Gabriele Cruse), Gerald, Ferol, Brenda (Randy); grandchildren, Jeremy (Sandy), Jesse, Lisa (Paul), Michelle (Blair) and Brendan; great-grandchildren, Tyson, Thomas, Dakota and Mackenzie.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation (6910-47 St. Wetaskiwin, Alberta, T9A-3N3) or Wetaskiwinhealthfoundation.com
