March 10th, 1962 - December 21st, 2019

After a very short struggle with cancer and associated complications, Donna left her body at the far too young age of 57. She maintained her positivity and sense of humour right up until the end and was at peace and accepting - with a sense of wonder of what was in store for her next.

Donna was born in Scarborough, Ontario and moved with her family to Calgary in 1975. One of her first comments when we pulled into Calgary about 6 a.m. on Sept.12,1975, was “hey – the people look just like us”. Apparently, she had been expecting a ‘cowboy and cowgirl’ environment. We laughed about that for many years. Donna was an adventurous, creative soul whose life was an ongoing mixture of good times and hard times. It is with profound sadness that we all must say “till we meet again”.

Donna will be deeply missed by her mother, Evelyn Lawless; daughter, Crystal Akkermans; grandson, Pierce Akkermans; sister, Debbie Herring (Don); niece, Kim Bradley (Dan); her beloved fur baby, Murphy, as well as many close and dear friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her stepfather, Pat Lawless; her grandparents, and her good friend of many years Ronnie Bonar.

Many thanks for the excellent care provided by the dedicated and compassionate medical staff at Chinook Regional Hospital (Lethbridge), Oilfields General Hospital (Black Diamond), and Foothills Medical Centre (Calgary); with a special thanks to
Dr. Martin LaBrie, Palliative Care Consultant
at Foothills Medical Centre.

If so desired, donations in Donna’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Alberta/Northwest Territories Division), #200-325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB,

T2E 2P5. A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be
 held at a later date.

Cremation was provided by Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services. Photos, memories & condolences may be shared with Donna’s family through https://www.choicememorial.com
