July 26th, 1940 – March 5th, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce
that Desmond McNarry Braden, of
Okotoks, Alberta, Canada, passed away on
March 5, 2022.
Desmond was born on July 26, 1940, to
Frederick and Georgina Braden, in the
northern Irish village of Millisle. Desmond
grew up in the city of Belfast and after
completing school, he became an electrician
after attaining an apprenticeship at Harland
and Wolff shipyard, the birthplace of the
Titanic. Desmond later went on to work at
the Belfast Telegraph, prior to emigrating to
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, with his young
family in 1974.
He was loved and cherished by many people;
Desmond is predeceased by his spouse
of 50 years, Linda Braden. He is survived
by his loving sister, Florence Braden. He is
also survived by his three children: Gareth
(Patty), Jonathan (Devon) and Heather
(Cole); his grandchildren Dylan Brooks, Ryan,
Sean and Iliana Braden and his beautiful
great-granddaughter Kennedy Brooks.
