It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Martin
Gallant, aka ‘Dave’. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by
his family, on August 25, 2022. Dave was born in New Waterford,
Nova Scotia on Nov 12 1953. He grew up on Cape Breton Island
and Newfoundland. At age 15 Dave left home with one of his
three brothers, and drove across Canada until his car broke down by
chance, in Calgary AB. He ended up staying in Calgary, went rollerskating
and as destiny would have it, was soon to meet his best friend,
and love of his life, his wife Georgina Violet Gallant (Middlemiss),
who he remained happily & lovingly married to for 50 beautiful
years. They moved out of the city to the small 1,200-person town of
Okotoks, which he called home for 47+ years. Dave was a talented
singer and self-taught guitar player since the age of 5. He was truly
an accomplished performer, playing and singing almost daily, which
he did out of his love of music, and how it brought people together.
Dave was a self described “Jack of all trades, master of none”, but
in reality, he was gifted and talented in anything he set his mind to.
Dave never missed a Sunday run with the Four Wheel Mtn Cats for
10 years. He had a knack even from a young age at fixing vehicles,
tuning performance motors, custom building Jeeps (Stock or
Modified), Bronco powered by Chev (Chevco, 4X4 Trucks (Past time)
for his love of Racing at annual 4WD Rallies, To drag racing his Chevy
Nova (Georgie’s Fault) at the race track. He turned his passion for
RPM into a successful business: Triple T Auto which he owned and
operated for over 15 years. He was employed and skilled in the
concrete trade for many years prior, managing and directing the pours
of large projects in Calgary, such as the Shouldice Bridge, Sun Ice
Building and Bankers Hall among others.

Dave’s love for fun and adventuring with his family was un-matched.
He drove across Canada, the States and Mexico on many enjoyable
trips with his wife, and camped, quaded, dirt biked with his family and
friends for years. Enjoying his family and the time they had together
was his favorite past time. He was completely smitten with his children
Trevor and Christina, his `favorite’ son-in-law Brody, and especially his
young grandsons, Niko and Dante.

Dave had a powerful moral compass that guided his life. He was an
incredible mentor and teacher to anyone who showed interest. He was
the kind of person who helped anyone in need with literally the shirt off
his back if someone was without. He taught his children the value of
integrity, treating others with respect, and always doing what is right,
along with countless other life lessons from the school of hard knocks.
He was an incredible person, proud, courageous, generous, with the
biggest heart ever. He lived life in the fast lane, often with wrench in
hand, and enjoyed more of life than most will ever experience. He never
ever stopped being there for his family who were his truest passion.
Dave left a beautiful legacy, and will live on in the hearts of the people
who were privileged enough to know and love him. His loss is felt
deeply, and he is truly missed.

Dave will be sadly missed by Wife of 50 years Georgina, son Trevor,
dotter Christina (Brody) Grandchildren, Niko & Dante, Brothers Dennis
(Diane) & Gus (Julie), Our Treasured Canadian & Mexican family and
dear friends. Predeceased by Mom: Helen Gallant, Dad: Murray Gallant
& Brother Bill Gallant.

Dave has donated his Brain to the Calgary Brain Bank for research
now and future research down the road through the Cognitive
Neurosciences Clinic.
