October 24, 1946 – September 1, 2021

David William Rourke passed away suddenly on September 1st, surrounded by family.

Dave was born in Olds, AB, on October 24th, 1946 to Herbert Rourke and Grace Isabelle Fergie. He is survived by his wife Judith; three children, Shane (Takako), Kimberley, and Brendan (Jennifer); and two grandchildren, Maden and William; sister Lynne; and his brothers, Greg and Allan.

Dave had a passion for history and world events both past and present. He started his career as a mechanic at Jack Carter, and later joined the Calgary Police Services (CPS), where he served as a member of the patrol division and the K9 unit. Dave used his knowledge of policing to start his own business in security consulting, eventually founding D.W. Rourke & Associates in 1985, with his wife Judith.

n 1989, he relocated his family to Okotoks and retired in 2013 to an acreage south of Black Diamond, where he enjoyed the mountain views, his time with his wife, family, beloved dogs and horse, Clue.

Not a fan of formality, Dave preferred candid conversations and the company of good friends, so in lieu of his Annual BBQ, a celebration of life was held with his circle of close family & friends at the Ranch.

Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Dave’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.
