It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Betty Lou Markle
(nee: Hess) on January 5, 2023.

Betty was born in Chilliwack BC on July 22, 1936. Within a short time, the
family moved to Pendrell Street in Vancouver where she attended Lord
Roberts School. Around the age of 14, her family moved to Trochu, Alberta.
There she finished school and enjoyed various sports; playing baseball,
basketball and volleyball, curling and a short bout with hockey until her
friend Joan’s tooth was knocked out. Betty went to the Holy Cross School
of Nursing and became an RN in 1956. She nursed at the Trochu Hospital
until starting a family after marrying Reed in 1958. She was a talented
seamstress; cook/baker and she loved improving her skills. Betty spent
many years on the golf course after retiring. She enjoyed every game
and being involved with the Highwood Club’s Board of Directors. She
loved watching sports, especially later in life. She loved to travel and
she loved animals. She was bright, witty and funny to her last moments.
She fought with amazing courage and strength. She was the definition
of selflessness to her family. Not to mention the most amazing, kind,
generous and supportive mom.We will miss her terribly.

Betty is survived by her children Evan (Myrabelle), Reta Mackenzie,
and Peggy Markle (Clayton Desjardins), grandchildren Nathan Morrison
(Michelle), Robin, Sèarik and Triggs Markle, step grandchildren Danielle
and Josh Desjardins (Mishayla). Betty is also survived by her brother Art
Hess (Barb), sister-in-law Joan Loewen (Marvin) and numerous nieces
and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Reed and son-in-law
Scott Mackenzie.

At Betty's request no funeral service will be held.
