It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Gomery on July 4, 2021 at the age of 79 years.
Barbara was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, the youngest of 5 children. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, her 2 brothers Robert and Leonard Bogert, and her sister Dolores Kholer. She is survived by her sister Gladys O’Brien, her son Bradford Gomery, and her daughter Dusti Gomery, grandchildren Jessica and Jaimie Gomery, and numerous relatives in the United States and Canada.
Barbara spent more than 25 years serving as the Library Technician for Percy Pegler Elementary School in Okotoks and helped to shape the once tiny library into a 3000+ volume library, instilling a deep love of reading in many of the children who attended the school (including her own daughter).
She spent much of her retirement staying active and either bowling or golfing, until moving to Grande Prairie in later years to spend more time with her granddaughters Jessica and Jaimie.
A graveside service will be held at the Davisburg Cemetery on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta.
