Sunday, August 21, 2022, Archie Holmes
passed away peacefully, 10 days before his
86th birthday, with his wife Jackie, of 63 years
by his side.
He has made so many cherished memories and
left us all with love and laughter in our hearts.
He will live on through his wife Jackie, Son Brian
and his daughter Lyndsey (Roger) and GGD Ava,
son Sheldon (Kate) and GG’s Jesse and Brienne,
His Daughter Linda and her girls Jessie (Rick)
GGS Freddy, Morgan (Jacob) GGD’s Ally and
Anni, his youngest daughter Lisa (Tim) and their
kids Brandon (Hannah) GGD Rory and last but
not least Brittany.
Archie was born in Glasgow, Scotland
August 31, 1936 and was an avid soccer player
and had also received many awards for his
achievements in science. He came to Canada
with his Father in 1952. They settled in Ontario,
got a job and brought the rest of the family over.
He met his wife Jackie, and they married in
1959. Archie was in sales his whole life, many
different jobs but was always up for a new
challenge and taking care of his family was
most important. One of Archie’s passions was
music. He played drums (self-taught) in a band
called The Gay Notes for many years with his
best friend Willis.
They moved to Calgary in 1974. Archie made
friends easily and they found their place in their
community through volunteering, he ALWAYS
gave back.
When Archie and Jackie moved to Turner
Valley in 1998, they fell in love with their street,
because of their neighbors and their pets and
all the wildlife, especially the birds. He was a
big kid at heart and always made people laugh.
His family was his life and they all knew it. We
will cherish those moments, those memories to
help fill in the void of such a HUGE loss. He will
be missed beyond words by so many. Archie,
Dad, Grandpa, GG and friend, you were loved
beyond measure and will be missed so dearly.
This is not goodbye, we will see you later.
