October 23, 2019, High River, Alberta

Adelaide Tacke of Okotoks, Alberta passed away peacefully in High River on October 23, 2019 just short of her
98th birthday.

Adelaide is survived by her loving daughters, Doris Gillies of High River, and Inge French of Okotoks; granddaughters Danielle French of Calgary, and Andrea (Brent) Harris of Millarville; grandson Brendan French of Calgary;
great-grandchildren Adelaide and Silas Harris of Millarville.

Adelaide was predeceased by her husband, Robert, in 1995, shortly after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

Adelaide was born in Germany, lived through World War II and came with her husband and two daughters to Canada in 1954, settling in Toronto and retiring in 1976 to a quiet home on a river in the Ontario Muskoka “cottage country” region. That became the summer gathering place where wonderful family memories were forged.

Wanting to be closer to family and grandchildren, Adelaide and Robert moved to Calgary in late 1991.

In early 2002 Adelaide moved to Okotoks to live permanently with her daughter Inge French, and her dog ‘Shadow’, that she faithfully walked two hours or more every day, summer and winter, regardless of weather. She became quite a celebrity in town and was invited to lead a local “GO-2 Spirit Parade” in 2007.

Adelaide was a gentle, sweet soul with a wonderful sense of humour. She loved life and made many new friends on her daily walks around town with Shadow. Unfortunately she did not continue her walks after Shadow passed in 2012.

In July 2018, suffering from dementia, Adelaide moved to High River to live with her daughter, Doris Gillies, where
she stayed until her recent peaceful passing. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who were privileged to have known her.

A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
