PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO — Dane Dobbie scored four goals and Dylan Kinnear added three more as the Langley Thunder defeated the Peterborough Lakers 9-4 to force a Game 7 in the Mann Cup.
After winning the opening two games of the best-of-seven series, the Thunder dropped three in a row as the reigning three-time Mann Cup champion Lakers stormed back Friday looking to make it four consecutive titles. Instead, the two sides will play Game 7 on Saturday.
Kinnear opened the scoring just 27 seconds into the game before Peterborough's Kiel Matisz answered back to tie it up at 1-1. After exiting the first period down 4-2, the Lakers' Shawn Evans opened the scoring in the second to make it a one-goal game for a second time.
However, that was as close as Peterborough would get as Langley scored five unanswered goals before Taite Cattoni added one more for the Lakers in the final period.
Dobbie added two assists to be tied for a game-high six points with Curtis Dickson who dished out a game-high five assists with one goal in the win. Robert Church also had five assists for the Thunder.
Mark Matthews (three assists) and Holden Cattoni (one goal, two assists) led the way for the Lakers in a losing effort.
