Cavalry FC closes in on perfect season with 2-1 win over HFX Wanderers

HALIFAX — Jordan Brown's shot deflected off a series of defenders and into the net as Cavalry FC defeated the HFX Wanderers 2-1 on Wednesday in Canadian Premier League action.

Sergio Camargo opened scoring for the Calgary-based Cavalry FC (7-0-0) in the 39th minute.

Andre Rampersad replied for HFX (2-4-1) in the 51st minute with a volley inside the box after a cross from Kodai Iida.

Brown's goal was credited as an own goal to Andre Bona in the 41st minute.

Later, FC Edmonton played York9 FC to a 0-0 draw in Toronto. Edmonton is now 1-4-2 in the spring season and York is 1-2-4.
