TORONTO — Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (19,277.01, down 240.70 points):

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Materials. Down 98 cents, or 4.76 per cent, to $19.60 on 12.6 million shares. 

Enbridge Inc. (TSX:ENB). Energy. Unchanged at $53.03 on 9.8 million shares. 

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Energy. Down $1.07, or 2.24 per cent, to $46.66 on 9.6 million shares. 

Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX:CVE). Energy. Down 10 cents, or 0.36 per cent, to $27.83 on 8.8 million shares. 

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Materials. Down 31 cents, or 7.21 per cent, to $3.99 on 7.2 million shares. 

Shopify Inc. (TSX:SHOP). Technology. Down $1.46, or 3.08 per cent, to $45.97 on 6.4 million shares. 

Companies in the news:

Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TSX:TRQ). Up $1.81, or 4.49 per cent, to $42.17. Rio Tinto has reached an agreement with a pair of dissident shareholders that have opposed the company's plan to take Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. private. Under the deal, Pentwater Capital Management LP and SailingStone Capital Partners LLC will withhold their votes on the plan that would see Rio Tinto, which already owns a 51 per cent stake in Turquoise Hill, acquire the rest of the miner for $43 per share in cash. Instead, Pentwater and SailingStone will exercise their dissent rights under the arrangement, which include mediation and the possibility of binding arbitration.

Cenovus Energy Inc. — Cenovus Energy Inc. reported its third-quarter profit almost tripled compared with a year ago, helped by higher commodity prices. The company also declared a variable dividend payment of 11.4 cents per share in addition to its base dividend of 10.5 cents per share. Cenovus said it earned $1.61 billion or 81 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended Sept. 30, up from $551 million or 27 cents per diluted share a year earlier.

Tilray Brands Inc. (TSX:TLRY). Down 26 cents, or five per cent, to $4.94; and Charlotte’s Web Holdings Inc. (TSX:CWEB). Unchanged at $1.03. Charlotte's Web Holdings Inc. has signed a deal with Tilray Brands Inc. for the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of Charlotte's Web CBD hemp extract products in Canada. The deal means Charlotte's Web's full spectrum CBD products will be available in Canada through Tilray's distribution network.
